UniRound is a project that my team created during Summer 2022. Our team consists of two UX/UI designers, Elizabeth and Tiffany (me), and two developers, Haneul and Alice, who are undergraduates from UC Davis.
UniRound is a university carpool service that connects college drivers with other students that need transportation. Not everyone is able to get a car in their college life and sometimes we want to travel somewhere far. We want to build UniRound because we want to help college students to find the most affordable and comfortable shared ride, anything from a ride to your nearby grocery store to a ride to an international airport. As we prioritize your safety and meaningful connection with others, you will only be connected with screened drivers by your preferences, and all drivers are 'students' at 'your college' as well.
Our first step was doing user research including giving out surveys to get some insights on what features to put into the application.
We surveyed 15 students to ask them how they usually find ridesharing services, what challenges they encountered when using an existed ridesharing service/platform, what would motivate and prevent them from using our product, and how to make our product more inclusive and transparent to college students (our target users).
